Description
This Mushroom Swiss Cheese Swirl Meatloaf with Smoked Turkey Crust is a gourmet twist on a classic comfort food, featuring a savory mushroom and Swiss cheese swirl and a smoked turkey crust. It’s perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion.
Ingredients
- 1000 g (2.2 lb) Ground Beef (halal-certified)
- 150 g (5.3 oz) Smoked Turkey Strips, finely chopped
- 200 g (7 oz) Button Mushrooms, finely diced
- 150 g (5.3 oz) Swiss Cheese, grated
- 100 g (3.5 oz) Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 medium Onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Olive Oil
- 1 large Egg
- 100 g (3.5 oz) Plain Breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Milk
- 1 tsp (5 ml) Dijon Mustard (alcohol-free)
- 1 tsp (5 g) Smoked Paprika
- ยฝ tsp (2.5 g) Ground Black Pepper
- ยฝ tsp (2.5 g) Salt
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Beef Broth (halal), 1 tbsp (15 ml) Soy Sauce, 1 tsp (5 ml) Honey (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp (8 g) Fresh Chives, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare Oven & Pan: Preheat oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Sautรฉ Aromatics: Sautรฉ diced onion and garlic in olive oil until softened and fragrant.
- Combine Mixture: Mix beef, turkey, mushrooms, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Make Cheese Ribbon: Combine Swiss cheese, cream cheese, and pepper for the swirl.
- Shape Meatloaf: Form mixture into a loaf with a trough for the cheese.
- Add Swirl & Bake: Fill trough with cheese ribbon, seal, brush with oil, and bake for 45 minutes.
- Glaze & Finish: Brush with glaze, bake 10 minutes more, and check for 71ยฐC (160ยฐF) internal temperature.
- Rest & Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes, garnish with chives, and slice.

Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful dish.
