jalapeno popper dip recipe
- Total Time: 48 minutes
- Yield: 10 servings 1x
- Diet: General
Description
This creamy, cheesy jalapeno popper dip recipe features golden, bubbly edges and a savory crunch. It’s an irresistible appetizer perfect for family meals, game days, or as an easy, hearty snack.
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 0.5 cup mayonnaise
- 0.5 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
- 0.5 cup jalapeno peppers, deseeded and finely diced (4–5 medium)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1.5 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Aleppo pepper, plus extra for garnish
- 0.5 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup crispy fried onions, for topping
- 0.25 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Oven and Jalapenos: Preheat your oven to 375F (190C). Finely dice 4-5 medium jalapeno peppers (about 0.5 cup), making sure to deseed them. Wear gloves to protect your hands.
- Combine Dip Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth. Stir in half of both shredded cheeses, diced jalapenos, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Aleppo pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly distributed.
- Bake The Dip: Transfer the dip mixture to an 8-inch x 8-inch (20 cm x 20 cm) oven-safe baking dish, spreading evenly. Sprinkle remaining shredded cheeses over top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until hot, bubbly, and lightly golden brown. If the cheese browns too quickly, loosely tent with foil.
- Garnish and Serve Hot: Remove from oven and rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle crispy fried onions and fresh cilantro over the hot dip, then dust with additional Aleppo pepper. Serve immediately with sturdy dippers.
Notes
Helpful tips include substitutions for lighter or dietary versions (Neufchatel, Greek yogurt, plant-based alternatives), methods for stovetop or air fryer cooking, and quick fixes for consistency or spiciness. Freshly shredding cheese enhances melt.
